FAQ

At KAS Counselling, we offer a range of services to offer a safe and non-judgemental environment for you to come and talk about your feeling and issues you may be dealing with.

If you’ve never experienced counselling before, you may have a number of questions that need answering prior to getting in touch. Check out our frequently asked questions below – if you can’t see the information you are looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team today.

  • What can I get counselling for?

Counselling is a way for you to talk to a qualified professional about anything you think is having a negative impact on your life and mental wellbeing. Anxiety and depression can be truly debilitating, so having someone to talk to in the form of counselling can be a real weight lifted off your shoulders.

We also offer services for relationship problems, sexual issues, LGBTQ+ problems that you are facing. If you’re struggling with anything at all and you feel as though getting it out in the open to a counsellor would help, please get in touch to book an appointment today.

  • Do I have to be referred by my GP for counselling?

No – you don’t need to be referred by your GP for any of our counselling sessions. Please get in touch if you’re struggling and we’ll help you find the service you need.

  • Where do your counselling sessions take place?

We offer counselling sessions in Northwich and Chester. Our Northwich counselling takes place with Alex, and our counselling sessions in Chester are with Kirsty.

  • What different therapies do you use?

Alex and Kirsty are both trained as integrative therapists. This means they draw on a range of models and theories including, but not limited to: relationship therapy, systemic therapy, psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, person centred counselling, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

In addition, Kirsty is trained in Equine Assisted Therapy. Alex has additional training in LGBT affirmative therapy and Psycho Sexual Therapy (PST).

  • How long will my counselling sessions be?

Counselling sessions usually last between 50 – 60 minutes. This can be extended as required.

Equine Assisted Therapy is usually 60 or 90 minutes long, depending on the individual.

  • How do I know which counsellor I need to see?

Both of our counsellors are fully trained and qualified to provide a full range of counselling services in their respective geographic areas, so should you be location-bound, you will receive the level of support that you require.

If you are looking for counselling to help deal with LGBTQ+ problems (be that bullying, added pressures, relationships, or anything else), Alex specialises in working with the LGBTQ+ community. He has many years of experience in counselling individuals and couples for a range of issues they may be facing.

Kirsty specialises in relationship counselling, so if you are having issues with any relationships in your life, whether than be romantic, friendship or family, our counsellor in Chester is here to listen.

Kirsty also offers Equine Facilitated Therapy which takes place at a farm near Wrexham. Some clients may benefit from working through their issues by interacting with the horses. This is because horses are highly sensitive and will help you explore what is going on for you without you feeling judged by another person.
